Mission Statement
The mission of the K-TAP Program is to promote the success of students receiving K-TAP funds and attending Northern Kentucky University.
Objectives of the K-TAP Program at Northern Kentucky University:
- Connect the K-TAP student to all available services that NKU offers to foster success, including, but not limited to, Student Support Services, Career Development Center, Learning Assistance Center, Academic Advising, etc.
- Provide work-study jobs on campus to meet the K-TAP work requirements. These monies do not count against the monthly K-TAP check. Three of these jobs may be Peer Mentor positions.
- Be a point of contact on the campus for K-TAP recipients who are considering attending NKU in order to assist their transition to post-secondary education.
- Provide resource and referral services for K-TAP students to both on-campus and community resources through the coordinator and Peer Mentors.
- Provide case management services to the K-TAP students that includes, but is not limited to, assessment, mentoring, counseling and referrals.
- Develop support groups, job skills training and educational programs designed to meet the needs of the K-TAP students to enhance their educational success and future employability.
- Provide a lounge for K-TAP student use with a phone and other facilities to create a supportive atmosphere for the students.
- Provide access to a confidential fax machine for participants to fax paperwork to their DCBS office.
